Kogi State PDP Chairmanship Aspirants Rejects Enemona Anyebe as Consensus Candidate Seeks Level playing ground

The Forum of Kogi State Peoples Democratic Party State Chairmanship Aspirants has rejected the publication of of one Enemona Anyebe as the Consensus Candidate for the State Chairmanship position of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi State.

This was made known duting a press briefing of 13 Legitimate aspirants for the Chairmanship Position of the PDP at the Party’s Secretariat in Lokoja.

The Forum described the publication as blatant false, making the rounds that Enemona has been chosen as the Consensus Candidate for the Party’s Chairmanship position.

The Spokesperson, Forum of Kogi State PDP State Chairmanship Aspirants, Aruwa Ismaila, said a Consensus Candidate can only be arrived at by all the 13 Aspirants discussing and agreeing with each other, not the Elders Review Committee picking a Consensus Candidate without their awareness.

They also alleged that the said Consensus Candidate never showed interest in the Contest for the State Chairmanship position of the Party and did not took part in the Screening and Personal Presentation processes before the Zoning Committee hence the need for the public and supporters of the PDP to disregard his purported candidature.

“We state at the scantly attended meeting of Kogi East Critical Stakeholders held at Lokoja on 29th April 2024, the Elders Review Committee Report on Zoning which was presented on their behalf and for which none of the 6 Elders attended was OUTRIGHTLY REJECTED especially on the issue of the Elders going outside their mandate to source for and nominate one Mr. Anyebe from Olamaboro

“It should be noted that no time between 29th April to 1st May 2024 was any meeting held to the knowledge and or in consultation with we the aspirants to solicit for our views and or our input on the zoning issue. We the Aspirants have not delegated our our position to any Elder to Canvass for or our behalf nor are we ready to do so going forward

“We cannot continue on the same path of impunity and imposition that has led the Party to disastrous electoral losses over the past 12 years dancing to the whims and caprices of our Leaders and expect a different result

“The purported Candidature of one Mr. Enemona Anyebe is dead on arrival for two reasons;
I. Like Prince Obajeh argued vigorously at the Elders Review Meeting, PDP is not father Christmas that you give out what was not asked for; it is a recipe for outright failure
II. Mr. Enemona Anyebe’s candidature is fatally and constitutionally prohibited since he is under a disciplinary sanction on three levels for persistent anti party activities. That is;
1. He is suspended from the Party with a fine
2. He is *debarred* from holding any Party Office and
3. Recommended to NEC of the Party for expulsion”.

The 13 cleared aspirants stressed that the Leadership of the Kogi State PDP Caretaker Committee should demand an official apology from Barr. Kabiru Usman on the Leaders he claimed to be representing on an attempt to overreach their mandate and calls for the retrieval of the said offensive publication.

The Forum also calls for the disqualification of Enemona whom they said was SMUGGLED into the list of aspirants through the back door as he did not took part in the screening process and also calls for level playing ground for all 13 aspirants to go to the field and subject themselves to the decision of the 738 delegates elected for the July 13th 2024 PDP Congress in the State if no consensus was reached.
