The attack came barely 24 hours after two policemen on stop-and-search were attacked and killed by some gunmen in Enugu State metropolis, less than a kilometre to the Government House.

The monarch who was reportedly caught on the web of the attacks, miraculously escaped unhurt.

The gunmen also burnt the FRSC van during the carnage.

Meanwhile, when SaharaReporters contacted the police commissioner in the state, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, for reaction on the incident, he said “I am not aware of the incident. Please contact the Police Public Relations Officer on that.”

However, efforts to get the Command’s spokesperson DSP Daniel Ndukwe, were unsuccessful as he could not take his calls or respond to a text message inquiry as at the time of filing this report.
