The results of the chairmanship election into the six area councils of the federal capital territory (FCT) held on Saturday have all been declared.

Naija News reports that elections were held to fill vacancies for 62 councillorship and six chairmanship seats.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), 14 political parties and 472 candidates participated in the polls.

The six area councils where elections held were Bwari, Abaji, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Kwali and Abuja Municipal Council (AMAC).

The results from all the six area councils have so far been declared and the Peoples Democratic Party won in three area councils including the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) which hosts Aso Rock while the All Progressives Congress (APC) won in three area councils as well.

The PDP won in Bwari, Kuje and AMAC while the APC won in Gwagwalada, Kwali and Abaji.

PDP candidate: Shekwogaza Gabaya (13,045 votes)
APC candidate: Audi Shekwolo (7,697 votes)
Amuche Madu, INEC returning/collation officer for Bwari area council, announced the results on Sunday morning.
KUJE

Abubakar was declared winner by ID Umar, INEC returning officer for Gwagwalada area council.

APC candidate: Danladi Chiya (7,646 votes)

Wesley Daniel, the returning officer in Kwali, declared Chiya winner of the poll on Sunday.

The result was declared on Sunday by INEC returning officer Gabriel Mordi.

Truetells Nigeria reports the APC candidate will be announced after the determination of the case before the Supreme court as an aspirant Abubakar Umar Abdullahi, had filed a case challenging the winner of the April 23, 2021, APC primaries, Alhaji Mohammed Angulu Loko.
