Truetells Nigeria reports that the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has assured Nigerians that the Federal Government is taking deliberate steps to address insecurity and restore peace across the country.
Akpabio gave the assurance on Friday during the inauguration of a sub-committee of the National Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking at the event, the Senate President said the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu considers insecurity a top national priority and has implemented several measures aimed at improving safety and stability nationwide.
According to him, the Federal Government is also working closely with members of the international community to confront the country’s security challenges and strengthen national stability.
Akpabio stated that the ruling party remains satisfied with the efforts of the Tinubu administration so far and expressed confidence that ongoing policies and security strategies will help reposition Nigeria as a safer and more secure nation.
He further urged Nigerians to strengthen the country’s internal economic capacity, especially at a time when global political and economic uncertainties continue to affect nations around the world.
The Senate President referenced ongoing geopolitical tensions such as the Russia–Ukraine War and broader developments involving countries like Iran, Israel, and the United States, noting that such global conflicts have far-reaching economic implications.
He therefore called on citizens to support policies that encourage local production and consumption.
Akpabio said Nigeria must begin to look inward in its economic decisions, stressing that the country should prioritize producing what it consumes and consuming what it produces in order to strengthen national development.
