Chairman of Ethiope West council area of Delta State, Oghenedoro Owoso was on Tuesday May 4 attacked by some youths in Mosogar.
The Nation reported that the council chairman was trying to pacify the youths who were protesting an eight-year blackout in the community when things took a different turn.
A policeman attached to Owoso was injured during the attack, as the youths took away his rifle and another one belonging to a second security aide. The chairman has reportedly called for dialogue, saying that violence is counter-productive.
Owoso also said some suspects have been arrested over the missing rifles.
