The Women’s Right and health project in conjunction with the European Union and British council have organized a programme to build capacity of civil society organizations to promote uptake of justice related social service in Oshodi-Isolo local government area of Lagos state.
Speaking at the programme the Principal consultant of Fibodaire Consultant, Foluke Omoworare said that the programme has succeeded in Impacting skills into the participants as they have improved knowledge about their work.
“Today we are doing capacity building, I know I have succeeded in my own session to impact skills into our participants, they have improved their understanding of the things they are doing for better implementation in their work.
“Though they have been managing the issue of women but now they have an improved understanding of what they are to do when the need arises. Partnership and networking is the bedrock of case management.
Some state governments have done a lot in putting in place laws that protect women, like the Lagos State government have done, there are laws in place but the key actors might not be knowledgeable about these laws and we are trying to create more awareness so that they will know what the law says and be able to defend their clients.” She said
Also speaking, the executive director of Women’s Right and health project, Bose Ironsi said that the programme is a three day capacity building for NGO’s on case on case management and to strengthen their responses on the issues of SGBV.
“It is a three day capacity building for NGO’s on case on case management and to strengthen their responses on the issues of SGBV sexual and gender based violence, the essence of the programme is to enhance their capacity.
Now people are beginning to speak up and we really need to train the case managers to better know their work on how to handle the issues they come across.” She said.
