What Pastor Adeboye Did In Aso Rock On Monday After Meeting Buhari

Pastor Adeboye visited President Buhari amid CAMA saga on Monday.

TruetellsNigeria reports that the meeting between Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who is the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, was held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, was held behind closed doors in the President’s office.

However, after meeting President Buhari, many expected Pastor Adeboye to address journalists in Aso Rock but the respected clergyman did not speak with State House correspondents after the meeting.

Apart from Pastor Adeboye keeping mute, the Presidency is yet to issue a statement on the meeting.

The meeting between President Buhari and Pastor Adeboye is coming weeks after the Nigerian President signed CAMA Act into law.

Section 839 of CAMA gives a provision for religious bodies, non-governmental organisations and charity organisations to be regulated by the registrar of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and a supervising minister.

Following the signing, President Buhari was asked by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to withdraw the law and expunge that section.

The Christian body also stated that signing of the law is a declaration of war against Christians.

Pastor Adeboye who reacted through the Head of Media and Public Relations RCCG, Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi, said he backs the stand of CAN.

The RCCG General Overseer said his position is not diametrically different from the stands of the CAN and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).
