Wale Edun Inaugurates New NDIC Management

The Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, officially inaugurated the new management team of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) today at the Ministry of Finance. The newly appointed Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Thompson Oludare Sunday, and Executive Director (Operations), Dr. Kabir Sabo Katata, were welcomed into their roles amid a ceremony that underscored the crucial functions of the NDIC in supporting Nigeria’s financial stability.

In his remarks during the inauguration, Minister Edun emphasized the NDIC’s vital role as a component of the nation’s financial safety net. He challenged the management team to leverage their extensive experience to enhance the corporation’s effectiveness, assuring them of the Ministry’s unwavering support in their upcoming endeavors.

Mr. Sunday, speaking on behalf of his colleagues, expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their appointments and pledged the team’s commitment to meeting both presidential and national expectations in their responsibilities.

Following the inauguration, the new management team was warmly received at the NDIC’s Head Office, where Mr. Sunday addressed the staff, promising to foster a collaborative environment aimed at elevating the corporation’s performance. He highlighted the importance of aligning their focus with the public policy objectives and mandates established by the NDIC’s enabling law.

Mr. Thompson Oludare Sunday brings over 30 years of regulatory experience, having begun his career at the Central Bank of Nigeria in 1989. His expertise in corporate governance, risk management, and compliance positions him as a leader dedicated to ensuring the safety of financial institutions.

Dr. Kabir Sabo Katata, with 28 years of diverse experience across multiple sectors, specializes in quantitative energy strategy and risk management. Having joined the NDIC in 2012, he has steadily advanced his career, culminating in his recent appointment as Executive Director (Operations).

The inauguration event concluded with a group photo featuring Minister Edun, Minister of State for Finance Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, and the new NDIC management team.
