Video: Igbos In Niger Republic Storm Streets, Send Message To Tinubu, ECOWAS

Igbos in the Niger Republic have sent a message to President Bola Tinubu concerning the proposed military invasion of Niger Republic.

Truetells Nigeria recalls that the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) authority of Heads of State and Government had given General Abdourahamane Tchiani, the mastermind of the supposed coup in Niger Republic, seven days to return power to Mohammed Bazoom.

The decision formed part of resolutions reached at the emergency meeting of ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, which held in Abuja.

Other resolutions at the end of the meeting included a stern warning that if the alleged coup plotters failed to restore political stability in seven days, ECOWAS may use force.

However, the Igbos in the Niger Republic are against the planned invasion.

In a video shared on Twitter by an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Adamu Garba, Igbos could be seen on the street with placards dissuading ECOWAS led by Tinubu from the proposed invasion

The Nigerian Senate has, however, rejected  Tinubu‘s request to deploy Nigerian troops in Niger Republic to restore democratic rule in that troubled country.

Rather the upper legislative chamber advised the nation’s leader and ECOWAS to explore political solution to the crisis.
