Twitter on Friday said it had informed informed Nigerian government that it was ready for open discussion over the suspension of the microblogging site by the West African country.
Nigerian government announced the indefinite suspension of Twitter last Friday, exactly a week ago, saying it was threatening its corporate existence.
“Today marks one week since Twitter was blocked in Nigeria. We have informed the Nigerian government that we are ready to meet for an open discussion to address mutual concerns and see the service restored,” Twitter Police said in a statement as reported by People’s Gazette.
“We remain advocates for the free and #OpenInternet everywhere.”
Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed on Wednesday said Twitter had reached out to it for high level discussion over the ban of its operations in the country.
