In a somber announcement, the Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sami Goma II, has died at the age of 81 in a London hospital following a brief illness. The news was confirmed on Saturday night by Abubakar Dustin Mari, the Kebbi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
The late emir, remembered as a courageous traditional ruler, leaves behind four wives and seven children. His passing is a significant loss not only to his family but also to the Zuru emirate and the broader community of Kebbi State.
The state government expressed its deep condolences to the immediate family of the emir, emphasizing the profound impact of his leadership and the sorrow felt by many. In a statement, the Commissioner noted, “We regret to announce the passing of Emir of Zuru. He was a courageous traditional ruler.”
As the Kebbi government mourns this loss, burial arrangements are yet to be announced. The community is encouraged to pray for the family, hoping they find the strength to bear this difficult loss.
