The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Oyo/Osun Area Command has announced the tragic death of Superintendent of Customs (SC) Kabiru Tijani, his wife, and four of their children in a devastating fire incident.

The unfortunate event occurred in the early hours of Monday, December 2, 2024, at their residence in Ede, Osun State.

According to the Command, the fire broke out around 3:00 am, claiming the lives of the officer and his immediate family.
SC Tijani, who served as the Officer in Charge of Operations at the Command, was highly respected for his dedication to duty, particularly his effective leadership in anti-smuggling operations.

His wife, a committed member of the Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA) Oyo/Osun Chapter, was equally recognized for her contributions to the welfare of the Customs community.

In light of the tragic incident, the Oyo/Osun Area Command has called for restraint regarding speculations surrounding the cause of the fire.
The Command emphasized its commitment to supporting the extended family, the lone child survivor, and further investigating the circumstances of the incident.

Dr. Ben Oramalugo, Customs Area Controller for the Oyo/Osun Area Command, expressed deep condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased. He also appreciated the public’s prayers and support during this difficult time.
The remains of SC Kabiru Tijani and his family have since been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.
