The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola on Thursday linked fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) to the attack which took place on Sunday.
Aregbesola revealed this while addressing State House correspondents after a meeting of the National Security Council presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to the former Governor of Osun State, the federal government has located the terrorists responsible for the killing of worshippers in Owo.
Aregbesola who addressed the newsmen alongside the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman, directed security agencies to go after the perpetrators of the attack and bring them to book.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has told political parties in the country to submit their list of candidates for national elections (Presidential/Vice Presidential, Senatorial and House of Representatives) latest by Friday 17th June 2022.
The INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu gave the directive on Thursday in Abuja during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners.
He emphasized that the portal for the submission of the list of candidates for national elections will automatically shut down at 6.00pm on Friday 17th June 2022.
He however added that the list of party candidates for governorship and House of Assembly elections will be uploaded from 1st to 15th July 2022.
The portal for this purpose will shut down by 6.00 pm (1800hrs) on Friday 15th July 2022.
Prof. Yakubu pointed out that in both cases, only names of candidates that emerged from democratic primaries as provided by Sec. 84 of the Electoral Act 2022 shall be accepted.
To mark the 2022 Democracy Day celebration, the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has declared Monday, 13th June 2022, as a public holiday.

A former Governor of Kebbi State, Senator Adamu Aliero, had dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Truetells Nigeria reports that Aliero, a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), announced his defection on Thursday in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital.
Aliero said his decision to dump the ruling party was informed due to the injustice meted out to him and his supporters across the state.
The Senator said that the treatment of his supporters unjustly forced him out of the party to join the PDP despite his several efforts to resolve the issues.
Aliero asserted that some of the efforts made included complaining to the national headquarters of the party.
He, therefore, appealed to all his supporters in Kebbi Central Senatorial District as well as other loyalists across the state to vote for PDP to ensure its victory at all levels.
Ahead of the 2023 general election, former President Goodluck Jonathan has sent an important message to presidential candidates of all political parties.
In a statement shared on Twitter, Jonathan said the emergence of the flag bearers after submitting to a rigorous primary election demonstrate their belief and interest in the progress of the nation.
The former president urged the various party candidates to conduct their political campaigns in a manner devoid of resentment, divisiveness and treachery.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Thursday stated that the Labour Party faction of a former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, is the only recognised faction.
This is coming after a faction of the party declared a former chairman of the party in Anambra State, Jude Ezenwafor as the winner of the presidential primary it organised on Wednesday.
Ezenwafor, however, on Thursday announced his withdrawal from the 2023 presidential race.
According to Ezenwafor, his decision to withdraw from the race is based on personal reasons.
The National President of the NLC, Ayuba Wabba while reacting to the emergence of Ezenwafor as a factional presidential candidate said his faction is not recognised.
