Tobi Amusan Loses Race To Jasmine, Finishes Second In Lausanne Diamond League

Nigerian track and field athlete, Oluwatobiloba Ayomide, better known as Tobi Amusan, has finished second behind Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn in the women’s 100mH at the Lausanne Diamond League.

Jasmine won the race with a new Meet Record (MR 12.34secs), Truetells Nigeria understands.

Amusan, who recently celebrated a World Record, had a run of 12.45s to come second ahead of USA’s Tia Jones who came third in a PB of 12.47s.

Jasmine Camacho-Quinn returned to winning ways on Friday after beating world champion Tobi Amusan in the 100m hurdles at the Diamond League stop in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Camacho-Quinn, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion, came in first with 12.34 seconds, breaking the event mark of 12.40.

Amusan, winner of the gold medal at the World Championships in Athletics last July in Oregon with a world record of 12.12, finished second by stopping the clock in 12.45. In third place, she finished the American Tia Jones with 12.47.

 

Camacho-Quinn won the world championship bronze by clocking 12.23 seconds last July. She was coming off clocking 12.27 in Hungary on August 8.

The Puerto Rican added 24 points to remain second in the standings of the Diamond League event with three commitments. Amusan is first 29 points with four events.

The best eight runners in the standing classify for the final of the circuit in Zurich, Switzerland, a stop that will be held between September 7 and 8.
