Terrorists Bomb Kuje Prison In Bid To Free Inmates

A group of terrorists on Tuesday night attacked the Kuje Medium Custodial Centre in Abuja, the nation’s capital with bombs in an apparent move to gain entry into the facility and free some of its members.

A high calibre bomb had first gone off at about 10:25pm followed by a second and third blasts as well as sporadic gunshots that residents into panic mode.

This newspaper gathered that the Nigerian Correctional Service NCoS had earlier received intelligence reports that one of its facilities could come under attacks.

The development comes shortly after an attack on the security team attached to President Muhammadu Buhari.

 

The attack on the security team, which occurred in Katsina earlier on Tuesday, left two persons injured.

 

However, the president was not in the convoy when the gunmen opened fire.

 

The security team was on its way to Katsina to prepare for a later visit by Buhari to Daura, his hometown, for the forthcoming sallah celebration.
