1. Boko Haram: You Expect Us To Forget And Forgive Repentant Terrorists? Shehu Of Borno Raises Question
The Shehu of Borno, Abubakar El-Kanemi has declared that accepting repentant Boko Haram members back into the communities will be a difficult challenge.
The traditional ruler who noted that it is difficult enough for the community members to forgive terrorists who killed and raped their family members and brought institutions to the ground, expressed concerns about reintegrating the repentant insurgents back into the society.
The Shehu submitted that while the idea of de-radicalization of repentant Boko Haram terrorists by the Nigerian Army under its safe corridor programme is a good initiative, the memories of the horrors they committed during the years of insurgency will always haunt them.
2. Just Like Buhari, Tinubu, Kaduna Governor El-Rufai Jets Out To UK Amid Reports Of Ill-health
Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State is reportedly in London, the United Kingdom, treating an undisclosed ailment.
Naija News reports that President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu usually jet out to UK for medical treatments.
It was gathered that the Kaduna governor was on Friday visited by Senator Uba Dani (APC-Kaduna Central) and other associates who had launch with him.
3. Buhari Makes Fresh Appointment After Return To Nigeria
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Justice Husseini Baba-Yusuf as acting Chief Judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Naija News reports that the president’s approval was sequel to the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC).
Baba-Yusuf appointment was made know in a statement on Saturday by NJC’s Information Director, Soji Oye.
4. Nnamdi Kanu: IPOB Cancels Monday Sit-at-home
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Directorate of States (DOS) has suspended the every Monday sit-at-home order.
Recall that IPOB had ordered for a sit-at-home to be observed every Monday throughout the southeast region, starting from August 9, until IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, is released from prison.
However, IPOB’s Head of DOS, Chika Edoziem announced the suspension of the action.
According to the IPOB DOS, the sit-at-home would be declared whenever Kanu will be making an appearance in court as against the every Monday directive.
5. Boko Haram: Why We Recalled Soldiers On Study Leave – Nigerian Army
The Nigerian Army has disclosed that only soldiers and officers who proceeded on study leave illegally were recently recalled back to service.
The Director of Army Public Relations, Nwachukwu Onyema who gave the explanation noted that before any of its personnel proceeds on study leave, such a person must have put in at least five years of service.
Apart from that, the affected personnel must have obtained an admission from the institution of study and gotten approval from the Army authorities.
The Army spokesman gave the explanation while speaking to Saturday Punch on an earlier report that many operatives away in different institutions of learning were recently recalled by the Army to help the fight against Boko Haram terrorists and other insurgents and criminals.
6. Most Corruption Complaints Not Properly Typed – EFCC Teaches Nigerians How To Petition
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has lamented that most petitions against corrupt persons sent to its official email address by whistleblowers are not properly crafted or typed.
Naija News reports that the anti-graft agency gave its official email address for blowing the whistle on instances of corruption as info@efcc.gov.ng and listed nine elements which must feature in any petition written to it.
The anti-graft agency further stated that petitions can be submitted in person to its various offices across the country or via the official email address, but not through social media.

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has explained that the visit by President Muhammadu Buhari to him in London was a friendly visit.

The presidency has described President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, as a goodwill visit, stressing that “we have read a lot about Tinubu’s health”.

Speaking during an interview with Channels Television on Friday, Buhari’s Media Adviser, Femi Adesina, said his principal did not visit the former Lagos State governor to talk about the 2023 election.
9. Again, FG Rejects Governors Proposal To Increase Fuel Price From ₦162 To ₦380/Litre
The Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government has again rejected the proposal of State Governors for the total removal of fuel subsidy.
Recall that the Federal Government had first, on May 21, rejected the governors’ recommendation of shooting petrol price up to between ₦380 and ₦ 408.5 per litre and removing fuel subsidy.
The governors’ advice was based on the report of its committee chaired by the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, seeking the full deregulation of the oil sector.
Reacting, the Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, had in a statement, said the current petrol price of between ₦162 and ₦165 per litre would stay.
10. Five Killed As Suspected IPOB/ESN Members Attack Imo Police Station
Gunmen suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, have attacked the Izombe Police Divisional headquarters in the Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State.
It was gathered that the attack resulted in the death of five persons from both sides.
Two policemen on duty and three of the invaders lost their lives during the raid.
Confirming the attack, police spokesperson for the command, Michael Abattam, stated that the attackers whose plan was to bomb the station engaged the cops in a duel battle which resulted in lost of lives.
