Detained Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho has begun negotiating with Benin Republic authorities.
TruetellsNigeria reports that this was made known in a statement released on Thursday by the counsel for the detained activist, Yomi Aliyyu.
Igboho’s lawyer dismissed reports that the agitator has been released and he is on his way to Germany.
The statement titled: ‘Re: Purported release of Sunday Igboho’, read: “Kindly discountenance any news about the release of Chief Sunday Adeyemo or that he is on his way to Germany. It is not true, please.
“With the assistance of a worldwide renowned professor and prof Akintoye and lawyers (Falola and myself), we are negotiating for something more comfortable for him than prison to meet his health demand.
“I advise you to remain calm and prayerful.”
Naija News reports that Sunday Igboho who has spent over 227 days in Benin Republic prison was arrested in Cotonou on his way to Germany alongside his wife, Ropo Adeyemo.
Recently Benin Republic govrnment had renewed the incarceration of the agitator for another six months, what many have described as illegal.
The 49-year-old agitator had dragged the Republic of Benin before the ECOWAS Court of Justice over his continued detention.
