Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen has reportedly reached an agreement with the Premier League club, Liverpool football club ahead of next summer’s transfer window.
A UK tabloid, Paisleygates, made this claim during the weekend as Victor Osimhen continued to delay his contract extension with Napoli even though all details of the new deal have been sorted.
In the last two transfer windows, there have been speculations that Liverpool are one of the top clubs in Europe that are making efforts to sign Osimhen.
Recall that Osimhen’s performance last season in which he scored 26 goals and provided five assists in the league as Napoli won the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years, attracted top clubs to push for his signature.
Some of the top clubs that pushed for his signature last summer include Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and of course Liverpool. However, none of them could do much due to Napoli’s outrageous asking price of £154 million.
Before Paisleygates reported that Victor Osimhen and Liverpool had an agreement on a transfer deal, Italian veteran journalist, Valter De Maggio had also made the same claim.
De Maggio claimed that the 24-year-old striker has decided to sign with Liverpool rather than continue with the Italian champions.
The veteran journalist said, “The president refers to a meeting that took place in Castel di Sangro. The parties had reached an agreement for the renewal, but then Calenda and Osimhen went back on their word.”
“What happened? There was the inclusion of another club, from the Premier League. I’m talking about Liverpool. There would be frequent contacts, but I just learned something else: there would be agreements already reached. Let me clarify: the agreements would be between the Reds and the player, therefore they would not involve Napoli.”
Unlike last summer when Napoli was demanding nothing less than £154 million from Osimhen’s suitors, his value has drastically dropped due to the poor relationship between the club and the play so far this season.
