The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Monday, lambasted the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) over its failure to conduct a flawless programme during the flag-off of the re-surfacing and rehabilitation of existing roads and remedial works on bridges of major roads in the FCT.
The minister was heard saying in a video posted to Twitter by TVC News and seen by SaharaReporters that the FCDA’s inability to properly fix the programme’s microphone demonstrates the institution’s lack of ability to manage the affairs of the capital city.
He said, “First of all, let me express my displeasure to FCDA. It is unfortunate and that is why FCT is where it is if an ordinary microphone, if you cannot arrange an ordinary microphone to work, how will FCT work? It can’t work. It is a shame at this level.
“And let me warn, all those who are concerned, this will be the last time, I will appear in a public function and I get this embarrassment. This should be the last time, it will not happen again. It will never happen again. If you don’t want to work, you leave. So I just want to say that.”
In August, Nyesom Wike had earlier advised directors in the FCT Administration and that of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), to seek redeployment if they could not perform in their various offices.
The minister urged them to work without fear or favour, adding that they should not see him as a difficult person.
He explained that all he wanted is results from them without any excuses.
The minister who met with the senior bureaucracy of the FCT Administration, FCDA, and members of the media after the official handover ceremony was down to earth and spoke emphatically on issues bothering the well-being of the territory.
