Governor Hope Uzodinma-led government of Imo State has revealed a plan to inaugurate a new security outfit in the state.
The security outfit, which according to the government will thwart insecurity issues in the state, would be launched on the 30th of November 2021.
Giving further details on the development, the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba said the agency also would be a combination of the local vigilante organisations and the Community Policing network, Naija News reports.
Emelumba disclosed this on Wednesday during a press briefing immediately after the Imo State Executive Council Meeting held at the Douglas House Owerri.
He said the Imo Government will launch the takeoff of 50 development centres across the State, in order to bring the Government closer to the people.
Emelumba added that Government has also concluded plans to reconstitute Development Centres, adding that they will soon kick-off.
According to the Commissioner, the number of Development Centres will be increased from 44 to 50, stressing that Town Union Presidents will be members of Development Centres where the community falls into.
The commissioner explained further that the involvement of Town Union Presidents is to bring the Government closer to the people.
