This year, Christians all over the world are going to observe ‘Good Friday’ on April 2 i.e. tomorrow. The festival does not have a fixed date and is calculated by determining the date for Easter according to ‘paschal full moon’ (Pascha is an Aramaic word for Passover which is a Jewish festival).
Good Friday is observed as a commemoration of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Christians world over remember His sacrifice by spending the day fasting and attending church services.
The ‘good’ in Good Friday is a debated term. ‘Good’ is used to denote holy or just a corruption of ‘God’s Friday’. According to the Christian faith, Jesus on this day took away the world’s sins along with him to heaven.
