Billionaire X (formerly Twitter) owner Elon Musk has said the microblogging site will no longer allow users to block accounts, comments from unwanted followers.

Musk in a post on Friday said blocking will only be available for direct messages.

“Block is going to be deleted as a ‘feature’, except for DMs,” Musk wrote Friday.

Musk disclosed this while responding to a post from the account of Tesla Owners Silicon Valley, asking, “Is there ever a reason to block vs mute someone?”

Musk also recently changed the name of the platform from Twitter to X. He has also introduced several changes since he acquired the company last year for $44 billion.

The block function has been useful for users who do not want to see contents they consider hateful and distasteful, and don’t want to see in their feed.
