Former Nigerian presidential candidate, Alhaji Bashir Othman Tofa has been reported dead.
The Kano State-born politician was the presidential candidate of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC), Truetells Nigeria recalls.
Tofa according to a report made available to newsmen at this time by a family source, died in the early hours of Monday after battling an undisclosed illness.
“Alhaji Bashir tofa died after being admitted in hospital for sometime,” Daily Post quoted one of the deceased’s relations, Alhaji Muhammad, saying.
Truetells Nigeria reports that Tofa participated in the annulled Nigeria’s June 12, 1993 presidential election organised by the military government of General Ibrahim Babangida.
Tofa was MKO Abiola’s major challenger in the controversial June 12, 1993, presidential election, annulled by the military government.
