Jigawa State former Commissioner for Environment, Barau Abdullahi Gambasha has been confirmed dead.
The former civil servant reportedly died at the age of 63 after battling an undisclosed illness, Truetells Nigeria understands.
A family source who disclosed the sad development said the former commissioner died Friday night at a hospital where he was taking treatments.
Commiserating with the families of the deceased in a statement signed by his Special Adviser Media and Public Relations, Habibu Nuhu Kila, the State Governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar described the Gambasha as a seasoned politician whose contributions to the political development in the state will ever be remembered.
The statement said the governor was deeply saddened with the news of the death of Alhaji Baurau Gambasha who was a former member of the state executive council and commissioner of environment.
Governor Badaru described Gambasha’s sudden death as a great loss not only to his family but to the state in general.
The Governor prayed to Almighty Allah to grant him eternal rest and the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Meanwhile, Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State has said that killers of the state Commissioner of Science and Technology, Rabe Nasir, know the victim.
Masari made this known during the burial ceremony of the late commissioner at the Katsina GRA mosque on Friday.
Suspected bandit terrorists, on Thursday, killed the Katsina State Commissioner at his residence.
It was learned that the terrorists murdered the commissioner inside his home located in Fatima Shema Estate in Katsina metropolis.
According to reports, Nasir was stabbed in the stomach in his sitting room while his body was dragged into a toilet where it was locked.
Speaking during the burial ceremony, Masari condemned the killing of his commissioner and innocent citizens residing in the state.
The governor asserted that the way and manner the commissioner was murdered was totally different.
