Bank System Upgrade is basically an essential banking system model which is aimed at improving productivity through the introduction of new features and streamlined workflows. Banks embark on this process in order to provide better banking services to their customers.
System upgrades have been an ongoing trend amongst Nigerian banks. This has become the common way they update their core system. While the intent behind system upgrades are good, they have a knack for leaving bitter experiences in their wake. Usually, these upgrades last the whole weekend with customers experiencing glitches as they transact on the bank apps.
Access Bank disclosed this in a statement on Sunday after hours of banking service disruptions over the weekend.
“Your Access Bank cards are back in action. You can now transact online, withdraw cash from ATMs, and make POS payments with ease! Thank you for your patience,” the bank stated in a brief message on X on Sunday night.
Earlier on Sunday, Access Bank customers took to X to express their frustrations over the bank’s service issues.
The bank had previously announced that there would be a temporary banking service disruption on Sunday, from 3 am to 2 pm, due to a banking system upgrade.
However, hours after the announced time, the service disruption persisted, prompting Nigerians to voice their displeasure on X on Sunday.
