Super Eagles Will Lift AFCON Trophy On Sunday, Says Gbenga Elegbeleye

Chairman of Nigeria Premier Football League Board, NPFL, Otunba (Hon.) Gbenga Otolorin Elegbeleye has expressed optimism that the Super Eagles will win the Africa Cup of Nations as the team takes on host Côte d’Ivoire in the final of the tournament on Sunday, February 11, 2024.

Elegbeleye in a statement he made available to newsmen on Saturday aaid:

“It is going to be a big match on Sunday and I have confidence in the ability of the Super Eagles to emerge victorious and bring home the 2023 African Nations Cup trophy.

“The boys are in their full form and high spirit, the coach too is also on top of his game in offering right technical advice that will guarantee their success. They’ve done well since the beginning of the tournament with record of no defeat and I urge them not to rest on their oars.

“Nigerians, irrespective of their tribe, religion or status as well as the government are firmly behind them and we are all sure they will make history and write their names in gold, both in African and global football as they carry the expectation and hopes of the entire nation on their individual shoulders.

“Nigerians will continue to offer their support and cheer the legendary Super Eagles as they strive for greatness in the final match and like I said earlier, they surely will do Nigeria proud on Sunday despite slugging it out with the host nation.” Elegbeleye said.
