Sterling One Foundation Reaffirms Commitment to Climate Action on International Ozone Day

In recognition of the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, Sterling One Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the ozone layer as a critical part of its broader climate action efforts.

The Foundation emphasized the need for global collaboration in addressing ozone depletion and tackling climate change as part of the drive to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

Ozone preservation plays a pivotal role in safeguarding ecosystems and human health by reducing harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation that contributes to environmental degradation and health risks. As part of its core focus on climate action, Sterling One Foundation continues to prioritize initiatives aimed at mitigating these risks and promoting sustainable development.

Olapeju Ibekwe, CEO, Sterling One Foundation, stressed the vital importance of ozone layer protection within the organization’s overall climate action strategy, stating, “Protecting the ozone layer is essential to securing the future health and well-being of both our environment and communities. Climate action is central to the Foundation’s mission, and we are fully committed to leading efforts that preserve our natural resources and promote sustainable practices for generations to come.”

Sterling One Foundation has been a leading advocate for climate action through various multi-stakeholder initiatives, promoting sustainable practices that help reduce environmental impacts. The Foundation’s projects focus on critical areas such as reducing plastic pollution, which contributes to environmental degradation and exacerbates ozone layer depletion.

Ibekwe further noted that efforts to protect the ozone layer are deeply interconnected with the global climate agenda. “Climate action is a collective responsibility, and we must continue to work together across sectors to ensure that the steps we take today preserve the planet for tomorrow. We are committed to driving this action through our initiatives and partnerships, in alignment with global goals.”

The Foundation has partnered with key stakeholders across sectors to advance these goals and encourages individuals, communities, and organizations to join in collective action to protect the ozone layer and promote a sustainable future.
