Sports Minister, John Enoh has pledged to prioritize the maintenance of sports facilities across Nigeria as he aims to make them meet international standards.
John Enoh who stated this while marking his first week in office as Sports minister visited the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Wednesday.
Recall that the former Cross River state lawmaker was sworn in as the country’s new sports minister last week Monday by President Bola Tinubu alongside 45 other ministers.
In his efforts to prioritize the development of sports facilities in Nigeria, John Enoh promised to assess the state of all the sports facilities around the country and make sure they were renovated.
“Facilities and infrastructures are a key component of sports, as they are variables that drive both elite performance and grassroots development,” Enoh said.
“It is very important that we get it right with our facilities. We must maintain the current infrastructures that we have, and look towards making them better to match what we have across the world.”
Meanwhile, John Enoh and other 44 ministers are currently in a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja which is the first cabinet meeting of the administration.
They were supposed to meet on Wednesday last week but the meeting was postponed to today, August 28, to give room for the ministers to settle in at their respective offices.
