Social media platform, Instagram on Monday stopped functioning with hundreds of millions of users worldwide having issues while signing in, updating or generally using the social media app.
A check on the platform by SaharaReporters showed that users could not refresh and were being kicked out of their accounts and forced to log back in.
This glitch happened barely a week after another social media platform, WhatsApp went down in what appeared to be another major global outage.
This was also confirmed by the company via its verified Twitter page, assuring that the glitch would be fixed very soon.
“We’re aware that some of you are having issues accessing your Instagram account. We’re looking into it and apologize for the inconvenience. #instagramdown,” Instagram Comms wrote.
Many users also shared their experiences on Twitter.
A user, @biggill37 wrote: “Some of us had to put in our email and phone number to verify the account. Now the password has been changed and we can’t get back in because our password has been changed.”
Another user, @Sineedboomsma, lamented how she could not retrieve her account despite following all the instructions.
She said, “My account has been suspended for no reason or my guess is hacked??? I followed the steps and it says it is under review!! Can I please have my account back? Years and years of memories on there!!”
