Broda Shaggi, the popular Nigerian comedian and content creator whose real name is Samuel Perry, has reportedly been hospitalised after sustaining a gunshot injury during a skit production.
TRUETELLS Nigeria reports that the incident allegedly occurred on Sunday afternoon around the Sango-Ota axis of Sango-Ota while the entertainer was filming a comedy skit with his crew.
According to reports, the skit maker was shooting a scene under the Sango-Ota bridge when the gunshot incident occurred under circumstances that are still unclear. A police source, who spoke anonymously, disclosed that members of his crew quickly transported him to Blooming Care Hospital for immediate medical attention.
The source explained that the comedian sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh and was given first aid treatment by medical personnel upon arrival at the hospital.
Further checks revealed that he was later referred to Duchess International Hospital for more advanced medical care, where he is currently said to be recuperating.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, stated that the police were alerted after the hospital reported that a gunshot victim had been brought to their facility.
According to her, detectives and patrol officers were immediately dispatched to the hospital, where it was confirmed that the injured individual was the popular skit maker.
She added that although the incident reportedly occurred in Sango-Ota, which falls outside Lagos police jurisdiction, authorities have commenced preliminary investigations into the matter.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, said the alleged shooting had not been officially reported to the police in the state.
