The MTN Foundation recently announced a call for applications for its annual scholarship awards. The scholarship recognizes and rewards qualified high performing students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions. In the past 11 years, the Foundation has awarded over N3 billion in scholarships to over 4,000 Nigerian students.
Are you a student in any of the Nigerian public tertiary institutions? Here are six things you should know about the MTN Foundation scholarship:
For Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Students
The scholarship is open to full time 300 level students studying Science and Technology-related courses, in any Nigerian public tertiary institutions (Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education), with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) score of 3.5 or its equivalent (2:1).
For Blind Students
The scholarship is all inclusive, and it is also targeted at qualified 200 level blind students studying any course in Nigerian public tertiary institutions (Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education), with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) score of 2.5.
For Top 10 candidates of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME):
Every year the top 10 scoring candidates of UTME as announced by JAMB, automatically qualify for a scholarship. The successful candidates are awarded scholarships from their 100 level through to graduation if they maintain the required grades. The top 10 UTME Scholarship is awarded irrespective of the successful candidates’ preferred course of study or tertiary institution – public or private in Nigeria.
Annual 200,000 grant;
The successful applicants will be awarded the scholarship grant worth N200,000.00 annually till graduation if they maintain the required grades. The grant covers tuition fees and books.
Skill Up Workshop;
Upon graduation, the MTN Foundation in partnership with its ecosystem partners, organises a Skill Up! Workshop to train and equip scholars with the needed skills to thrive in the labour market.

Strong Alumni Network;
At the end of the educational journey, all MTN scholars automatically become a part of the MTN scholars Alumni, where they can network and learn from each other.
