Shekau Releases New Video, Speaks On Boko Haram Reconciling With Nigeria
Shekau has appeared in a new video days after he was declared wanted.
The list was launched by the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, alongside Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno state, at the Nigerian Army Super Camp, Chabbal in Konduga local government area of Borno, northern Nigeria.
Among those on the list are the leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau, Abu Musa Al Barnawi, Modu Sulum, Malkam Umar, Bello Husba, Yan Kolo, Ibrahim Abu Maryam, Baka Kwasari, Bana Gonna, Mohammed Abu Maryam, Abu Imma, and Abu Dardda.
Days after the Nigerian released a list declaring Shekau wanted, the Boko Haram leader has appeared in a new video where he spoke on the reconciliation of the terrorist group with the Nigerian government.
According to Human Angle, a conflict reporting website owned by Ahmad Salkida, a Nigerian journalist known to have contact with Boko Haram, Shekau spoke on the desertion of former Boko Haram fighters.
“They have left the fold of religion,” Shekau says about the desertion of ex-fighters, adding that may they never consider such path in their lifetime.
A statement which, therefore, puts aside any chance of reconciliation between his group and the state.
Human Angle tweeted: “Just In: “They have left the fold of religion,” Shekau says about the desertion of ex-fighters. He also says may they never consider such path in their lifetime, putting aside any chance of reconciliation between his group and the state.”
