The EEDC said this in a statement issued on Saturday by its Head, Corporate Communications, Emeka Ezeh, who confirmed that customers in Imo State and parts of Umuahia, Abia State, had been thrown into blackout since 7.45am of Thursday.
“As a result of this outage, our customers under New Owerri, Owerri Urban, Owerri Rural, Orlu, Mbaise, and parts of Umuahia districts have been without power supply,” Ezeh added.
The EEDC spokesperson however said that the reason for the development was yet to be made known to the electricity distribution company.
“We sincerely apologise for the inconveniences this situation must have caused our esteemed customers and appeal for their understanding, while hoping that the issue is resolved soon, to enable us restore supply to our affected customers,” he added.
