Senator Natasha Warns Nigerians Over Fake Investment Video Using Her Identity

The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has raised an alarm over a viral video circulating on social media that falsely portrays her promoting a fraudulent investment scheme.

TRUETELLS Nigeria reports that the lawmaker dismissed the clip as manipulated and misleading, warning that it was created by fraudsters to deceive unsuspecting Nigerians.

In a statement shared on her official social media platforms on Sunday, Akpoti-Uduaghan explained that the video was doctored from a previous television interview she granted to journalist Seun Okinbaloye.

According to her, criminals altered segments of the interview and manipulated the footage to make it appear as though she was endorsing a questionable investment platform.

The senator clarified that although the viral clip appears to feature her voice and image, it is completely fabricated and should not be trusted.

She urged Nigerians to disregard the video entirely and avoid engaging with any investment platform or financial offer connected to it.

Akpoti-Uduaghan further stressed that she has no relationship whatsoever with the investment scheme being advertised in the manipulated clip.

The Kogi lawmaker also appealed to members of the public to help stop the spread of the false content by reporting the social media accounts or pages hosting the video.

According to her, reporting the fraudulent content will help ensure that it is removed quickly and prevent more people from falling victim to the scam.

She also used the opportunity to caution Nigerians about the increasing threat of online fraud.

The senator advised citizens to remain vigilant and exercise caution when encountering investment opportunities promoted online.

Her warning comes amid rising concerns over cyber fraud and identity manipulation, as scammers increasingly use edited videos and artificial intelligence technology to create convincing fake endorsements involving well-known public figures.
