Sanwo-Olu Appoints New Commissioner For Physical Planning

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has appointed Omotayo Bamgbose-Martins as the new Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development.

Truetells Nigeria  reports that the governor approved the appointment of Bamgbose-Martins following the resignation of Idris Salako, as the commissioner on Tuesday.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced his appointment Wednesday while briefing newsmen at Alausa, Ikeja.

Omotosho said Bamgbose-Martins, who was the Commissioner for Special Duties, was redeployed to the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

He said: “This is to inform the general public that Mr. Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appointed Omotayo Bamgbose-Martins as the new Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development.

“He is replacing Dr. Idris Salako who has resigned from his appointment recently. The appointed commissioner is coming with a wealth of experience as a former Commissioner for Special Duties, a technocrat you can rely on.”

Lekki Building Collapse

Two persons have been confirmed dead, and several persons are reportedly trapped under the rubble of a collapsed seven-storey building on the Oba Idowu Oniru Street, Lekki area of Lagos State.

Truetells Nigeria reports that the seven-storey building was under construction when it collapsed in the early hours of Sunday, September 4, 2022.

In a situation report, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, said the operation had commenced on the site to rescue those trapped, adding that the Lagos State Response plan had been activated.

Two Die In Bariga Building Collapse

Recall that two children had reportedly died while three adults sustained various degrees of injuries following the collapse of a storey building on Adeleye Street, Lady Lark, Bariga area of Lagos state.

Truetells Nigeria reports that the LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, in the situation report made available to journalists confirmed the development.

The incident occurred after the Ikoyi building collapse, in November 2021, which claimed more than 40 lives.
