Sanwo-Olu: APC Still Troubled by 2023 Lagos Presidential Election Outcome

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has admitted that leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state remain unsettled over the outcome of the 2023 presidential election in Lagos, describing it as a deeply disappointing experience for the party.

TRUETELLS Nigeria reports that the governor made this known on Tuesday through his Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde, during a Ramadan lecture organised by the APC in Lagos.

The event brought together party members for prayers and strategic discussions as attention gradually shifts toward preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Addressing party faithful, Ayinde urged members to begin early mobilisation efforts, emphasizing the importance of voter registration and collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). He stressed that active participation would play a decisive role in the party’s future electoral success.

He noted that the outcome of the 2023 election in Lagos fell short of expectations and should serve as a lesson moving forward.

Ayinde encouraged members to take proactive steps to ensure improved performance in subsequent elections, particularly by strengthening grassroots engagement.

Sanwo-Olu also linked the success of the current federal administration to the possibility of President Bola Tinubu securing a second term in office, noting that sustained national progress would depend on continued electoral support.

He said, “We must not allow a repeat of what happened during the last election. We all need to obtain our PVCs because the outcome was not good enough, and we are still ashamed of it.

“We are honestly still ashamed. To avoid a recurrence, everyone must be fully prepared ahead of the next elections.”
