The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Rivers state, Professor Zacchaeus Adangor, has resigned from office.
In a letter dated December 14, 2023, Adangor said he chose not to serve in the government out of personal conviction.
Adangor, who was a member of Governor Fubara’s predecessor Nyesom Wike’s government, expressed gratitude to the governor for recognizing his suitability for the position.
“I hereby give Your Excellency Notice of my resignation as the Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Rivers State with effect from the date of this letter. For the avoidance of doubt, from the said office is based on personal principles,”
The resignation comes barely 24 hours after the demolition of the State House of Assembly at the instance of Governor Fubara and presentation of the 2024 budget to four pro-Fubara lawmakers led by Edison Ehie.
