Rite Foods Reiterates Commitment to Clean Energy

Rite Foods Limited, Nigeria’s leading food and beverage manufacturer, has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship and the adoption of clean energy to celebrate the 2026 International Clean Energy Day, themed “Clean Energy for People and Planet.”

As a market leader, Rite Foods continues to pioneer sustainable manufacturing practices, integrating clean energy into its core operations to reduce its carbon footprint while delivering world-class products to millions of Nigerian consumers.

To further commemorate this milestone and drive industry-wide dialogue, Rite Foods will host an interactive session with key stakeholders on Friday, January 30th, 2026. This forum will bring together energy experts, government officials, industry regulators, and sustainability advocates to discuss the adoption of renewable energy within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector. The session aims to encourage collaboration and explore innovative pathways toward a greener industrial future in West Africa.

Speaking on the company’s vision, Ekuma Eze, Head of Corporate Communications and Sustainability, stated: “At Rite Foods, clean energy is a strategic business imperative. Our approach recognises the realities of industrial operations in Nigeria while deliberately pursuing cleaner, more efficient, and more resilient energy solutions that support both sustainability and business continuity.”

Rite Foods Limited currently operates on a predominantly cleaner energy mix, with natural gas and solar accounting for 95% of its energy mix, while diesel makes up only 5%. This reliance on natural gas and solar power helps the company reduce its dependence on more carbon-intensive fuels across its manufacturing operations.

The General Manager, Operations, Femi Ajileye, highlighted the technical precision behind these efforts: “Our production systems are designed to optimize energy use while maintaining the highest quality standards. We leverage cleaner energy sources and fully automated production lines to reduce energy losses and ensure consistent output without compromising our environmental responsibility.”

Beyond its energy mix, Rite Foods continues to drive efficiency through disciplined energy management across its operations. The company maintains a low energy intensity per unit of production compared to typical industry benchmarks, reflecting sustained investments in modern, automated equipment and continuous process optimization. This efficiency advantage not only reduces environmental impact but also strengthens cost control and manufacturing competitiveness, positioning Rite Foods’ operations to meet global standards while remaining resilient in Nigeria’s operating environment.

Rite Foods’ leadership in innovation and sustainability has earned it numerous accolades, including Outstanding FMCG Corporate Brand of the Year at the Edge Awards and multiple honors at the Sustainability, Innovation and Social Impact (SISA) Awards and the SERAS. These recognitions emphasize the company’s position as a proudly Nigerian brand driving responsible growth on a global scale.
