A glimpse at Jose Mourinho after the final whistle reminded me of Lampard’s first match in charge at the Chelsea dugout. No matter how I sugar-coat the performance it was a humiliating scoreline at Old Trafford. But one man made a headline out of it.— He is Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho was hypercritic on Lampard’s young guns notably Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount and spoke not highly of his once assistant captain. Not only in the first week he has continuously hurled critics on Lampard’s approach in matches. Mourinho for reasons will always be remembered in Stamford Bridge. He has a special history with the club no doubt and I have a great respect for him.
But, last night he grappled with his apprentice in a match that I have long excepted to see its end. The blues have in the last two league matches tasted defeat both at home and on the road while Tottenham with the man otherwise known as the Special one has performed well so far in charge.
Undoubtedly many football pundits are always on the necks of managers once results went against their teams. Fans are not left out. This also happens in the world of politics.
I have come to understand that critic is like a lolly but when one is entrusted in a leadership position the person would botched. It means that commentaries are not same with working leadership. — The difference is clear.
I’m not in anyway exonerating myself from the above statement because in the time past I have done worst. But with experience I’m daily improving myself.
Away from politics, what went wrong on the side of Mourinho last night?
It is an indication that the round leather game is full of surprises. Stay in the studio and hunch managers then get the job and be humiliated. Thierry Henry and Gary Neville are names who were sacked in management after, perhaps, what they offered in the studios did not came to light.
Lampard and the lads showed determination and hunger for result. It was not in sight fortnight ago. The blues caused Tottenham problem in the midfield, but Willian’s man of the match performance made my night.
It’s a big shame that England is gradually becoming home for racists. Racism is unacceptable in the world of football and the fan that abused Antonio Rudiger must be sanctioned.
On Son Heung-min’s red card, it was a well deserved.
I’m truly sorry for Mourinho, but that is football. He was roundly beaten by same lads he never thought were good enough to play under Super Frankie. And what was interesting was that it was his first home defeat. Punditry and managerial job are parallel lines it cannot connect, but the former is the easiest job.
No better gift for Christmas than what happened last night.
Congratulations lads.
