Lagos State command of the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of some individuals over possession of firearms.
The three suspects, according to the force, were arrested with a large cache of ammunition in two commercial buses while transporting the same to Katsina State.
In a terse statement made available to newsmen on Saturday, the Police spokesman in the state, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the suspects were nabbed with the consignment at Poromope Estate, Ijede Road in the Ikorodu area of Lagos.
The police mouthpiece said operatives who intercepted the ammunition also discovered three dismantled motorcycles and some personal effects in the two buses.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects, Tukur Abdullah, aged 35, Muazu Telim, aged 50 and Dahiru Idris, aged 36, were on their way to Katsina State with the ammunition.
“The suspects, the exhibits and the vehicles have been transferred to the Lagos State Command Headquarters, Ikeja for further investigations,” Hundeyin stated.
ISWAP Terrorists Kidnap Policeman, Others In Borno
The Islamic State in the West African Province (ISWAP) has reportedly whisked away no fewer than seven security men in Borno State on Saturday.
Truetells Nigeria learnt that the assailants in the early hours of Saturday stormed the North Eastern Gubio Local Government Area of the state where they kidnapped their victims including a policeman.
Among the abducted victims is also four members of the Civilian Joint Task Force(CJTF) and three hunters. The security men are said to have confronted the terrorists but were overpowered due to their deadly ammunition and large number.
Confirming the incident, a Counter Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in Lake Chad, Zagazola Makama, said the security men were attacked at the Rural-Urban Migration Site (RUGA), at Pompom Baliya village located about 5 kilometres to Gubio.
He said the terrorists carted away one Hilux patrol vehicle and weapons and afterward moved toward the Gadai village in the Nganzai Local Government area.
