Police Arrest 19 Oil Company Job Fraudsters In Lagos After Defrauding Over 150 Victims

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to Igando Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested at least 19 suspects who allegedly specialised in defrauding unsuspecting Nigerians and non-Nigerians with the promise of securing jobs for them at Shell Oil Company.

It was gathered that the suspected fraudsters lured their victims from different states across Nigeria and neighboring countries with a promise to help them secure a job in Shell Oil Company in which they (victims) would be paid N300,000 monthly.

A source told SaharaReporters that the police operatives on Monday busted the criminal hideout located at 22 John Kay crescent, Lanre bus stop, a suburb area of Igando in Lagos where about 19 suspects were arrested while others are at large.

“There were over 150 victims on ground duped of their hard-earned money, some even came all the way from Ghana.

“A lady who disclosed that her name is Chinasa Juliet, a nurse said she came all the way from Enugu State. She stated that her friend introduced her to the company in which they were asked to pay a whopping sum of N750,000 to get a form then undergo a training, thereafter, she paid a part payment of N650,000 hoping to get a job in Shell Oil Company as a nurse.

“She said over eight girls were lodged in a room but she later came to her senses when she saw those that are supposed to get them a job of N300,000 per month looking tattered and unkempt.

“It was then she requested for a refund of her N650,000. They were in the middle of the argument when the police came and arrested everybody.

“Another male victim who narrated the same story, said he was duped of N300,000 while they promised to get him a N300,000 monthly job in Shell company,” the source said.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has yet to officially react to the incident as calls made to his phone number were not answered.
