People trapped as building collapses in Lagos

Many people are feared trapped as a two-storey building on Thursday collapsed on Lagos Island area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

The building collapsed at No. 15, Iga Iduganran, close to the Oba of Lagos’s palace.

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu is said to have mobilised the elite team from the agency’s headquarters, Command and Control Centre for rescue operation.

Details are still sketchy, but Nosa Okunbor, agency’s media head said Oke-Osanyintolu is currently supervising and coordinating the search and rescue operation at the scene of the collapsed building.

“PS LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, has rolled out with the elite team from LASEMA HQ, Command and Control Centre, to Supervise and Coordinate the Search and Rescue Operations at the scene of collpsed building that occurred at 15, Iga idungaran, close to Oba’s palace, Lagos Island,” he said.

It was gathered that some people are still trapped in the ruins of the collapsed building.
