The Police Community Relations Committee in collaboration with Partnership for Justice, Nigerian Policing Programme and Lagos State Domestic and sexual response team has organized a workshop to locally address issues of sexual and gender based violence.
The event which was held at the PCRC hall, Alakuko Police station attracted stakeholders, students, PCRC members and members of the community who were educated on gender based violence and coronavirus.
Speaking at the Programme the chairman PCRC Ojokoro Division, Elder David Adetomiwa said that the Programme is beneficial to everyone present as it dwells on the issues that concerns the community.
“ The Programme is one that will be beneficial for everyone present as it is to discuss the issues concerning the community especially the gender based violence and how to take good are of ourselves through this period of coronavirus.” Adetomiwa said
Also speaking a consultant, Alakija Oladipo said that it is important when you see something, you say something and also do something.
“ The aim of the Programme is to enlighten the people about gender based violence which we see in our communities on daily basis and also to address some issues on the current coronavirus epidemic.
Men also face abuses, but no matter where the abuses is coming from whether male or female, we should try and tackle the issues that causes domestic violence.
One of the things that causes domestic violence is abuses both physical, mental torture, starvation and other things.” Oladipo said.
