Pa Philip Akintoye foundation (PAPADEF) in collaboration with Nigerian Policing Programme (NPP) has held a community stakeholders engagement on drug and sexual abuse in Ojudu, Ojota in Lagos State.
The meeting which was held at the PCRC hall, Area H command Ogudu was aimed at educating the community members on the issues of drugs abuse and sexual abuse which is a menace in the society especially the youth.
Speaking with TruetellsNigeria the founder of PAPADEF , Comrade Festus Kehinde Akintoye said that the Programme is set up to talk to the members of the community on the dangers of using substances or any form of drugs without prescription which in many times leads to drug abuse.
He said
“This is a synergy between our foundation and the Nigerian policing program in combating crimes in relation to sexual abuse, drug abuse and other moral decadence in our society.
We are here today to interact with the community members and also the police to iron out this issues which are very prevalent in the society. Our aim is to sensitize the community members on the health implications and bad effects of taking drugs and sexual abuses.”
In her speech the Lagos State Intervention Office, NPP, Ivy Basil-Ofili said that the essence of the meeting to sensitize the people of the community on drug abuse and gender based violence.
“The aim of the stakeholders meeting is to sensitize the people living in the community on drug abuse and gender based violence, the essence is create more awareness and bring it to the front Bonner for the members of this community to know what more about the issues concerning abuses in the society.
The police are doing their best especially when it come to Arrest and prosecution of the offenders, we also need the community members to work with the police to keep the community safe, because he police might not know the community members.”
Also speaking the chief nursing officer F.N.P.H Yaba, Moranikeji Alabi Bukola said that most of the events of like children see expose them to drug abuse.” She said.
“We are doing a community outreach to sensitize People about sexual abuse and drug abuse. The social media is a big issue for the young people they watch so many things that they wish to practice it has actually reduced our religious and moral lessons. Another is bad parenting some parents have the habits of taking drugs and alcohol in the presents of their children which they will want to try when the parents are not around. Our aim is to note the issues and give advice on way we can tackle the problem and if it gets out of hand to advise they are taken to rehabilitation centers to bring them back to the society.” She said
