Police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the development, stating that four additional suspects linked to the disturbing incident have also been taken into custody. The case gained widespread attention after videos surfaced online, sparking public outrage and condemnation, including reactions from the Delta State Government.
According to Edafe, the community leader and chief organiser of the event, Chief Omorede Sunday, along with the other suspects from Oramudu Quarter, have been detained.
He added that the Commissioner of Police has directed that all five suspects be immediately transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation. The police authorities also assured the public that everyone found culpable will be apprehended and prosecuted.
