ORAN Celebrates 4th Anniversary with  Lecture and Award Presentations

The Online Reporters Association of Nigeria (ORAN) marked its fourth anniversary with a vibrant celebration held at the LCCI Lagos. The event, themed “Positive effects of digitalization in New era journalism,” brought together journalists, media professionals, and stakeholders from across the country.

Founded in 2020, ORAN has been at the forefront of advocating for the rights of online journalists, promoting ethical reporting, and enhancing the quality of digital journalism in Nigeria. Over the past four years, the association has grown significantly, boasting a membership of online journalists and media practitioners.
The anniversary celebration featured keynote speeches from prominent figures in the media industry.
The event also included panel discussions on the challenges facing online journalism in Nigeria, such as digital security, copyright issues, and the impact of social media on traditional news reporting. Participants engaged in lively debates, sharing insights and strategies for navigating the evolving media landscape.
In recognition of the achievements of its members, ORAN awarded individuals for their outstanding contributions to digital reporting. The awards celebrated excellence in various categories.
An award was presented to SP Precillia Erriom as the Best Female Police Officer of the year 2024.
ORAN’s President, Adebola Shehu Tijani, expressed gratitude to members and supporters during the celebration. “This anniversary is not just a milestone; it’s a testament to our collective efforts in transforming the narrative of journalism in Nigeria. Together, we are building a resilient community that champions truth and transparency,” he said.
The evening concluded with a networking session, allowing members to connect and share ideas for future collaborations. As ORAN looks forward to its fifth year, the association remains committed to empowering online journalists and advocating for a free press in Nigeria.
