One year of giant strides: MAJAN extols leadership prowess of CGC Adeniyi

Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (MAJAN) has extolled the virtues and leadership prowess of CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, after one year in office as the Comptroller General of Customs.
Cablenews24 reports that MAJAN described CGC Adeniyi as uncommon reformer following his transformational leadership in taking the Service to greater heights,a feat that is very visible  to all.
MAJAN said : “The last one year of CGC Adeniyi on the saddle of Customs management has been a period of selfless service, hard work, resilience, total commitment to statutory responsibilities, as well as dedication to work, and in line with the renewed hope mantra of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu,GCFR.
“As such, MAJAN as an association applauds the Customs Boss and his gallant officers on excellent performance.
“For instance, the current Customs Boss, who was appointed in June 2023, has performed very  remarkably in trade facilitation, revenue collection for economic growth, anti-smuggling drive to  curtail influx of offensive items into the country, as well as supporting the Federal Government on its efforts to revamp the nation’s economy.
“The Service under CGC  Adeniyi boosts the federation account with N4.49trillion revenue collected, which is unprecedented in the history of Nigeria Customs Service since its inception
“Through effective anti-smuggling operations, CGC Adeniyi and his team made massive seizures of arms, ammunition, dangerous drugs and other offensive items, thereby protecting the nation’s economy and safeguarding national security. “A typical example was the recent unveiling of illicit drugs worth over N4.1billion at TinCan Island Port, seized by Tincan Customs Command through intelligence.
“The current Customs Boss has also achieved a lot in prompting exports to strengthen the economic diversification policy of the Federal Government.”
The association, which has been following the activities of the CGC since he assumed office in June, 2023, also commended him on inter-agency collaboration with relevant agencies, which is very effective in its anti-smuggling operations, especially in securing the nation’s borders.
The association pointed out; “As a career Customs officer, CGC Adeniyi has performed creditably, bringing his experience, expertise and intelligence to bear in all aspects of Customs operations.
“He is proactively implementing his vision anchored on consolidation, innovation and collaboration in discharging his duties, taking into cognisance capacity building for his officers and good welfare package to boost their morale.
“With CGC Adeniyi as the number one Man in Customs, it’s success story for the Service”.
