The weeklong event has been billed to hold from Monday, 18th to Sunday, 24th December, 2023 with various activities lined up on different days.

The Ososa (Omoroyo) Day Planning Committee disclosed this on Monday at the Chief Hubert Ogunde Hall of the palace of the traditional ruler of the town, Gbegande of Ososa, Oba Dr Mojeed Adetoye Alatshe, (Ogunroyega IV)

The Chairman, Omoroyo Day Planning Committee, Chief Abayomi . Adewunmi and members of the Committee including Professor Olatunde Adetila and Architect Boye Ogunbadejo, President, Ososa United Society, Lagos, said that the highpoint of the Day celebration was the launching of an appeal fund in aid of various development projects in the community.

They called for the support of well-meaning indigenes, their friends and associates and good spirited Nigerians to come to the aid of the community.

According to them, “Ososa is known within and without for its tastefully prepared melon balls (Robo) soaked in rich vegetable oil (Omoroyo Eleridodo) and Corn flour mixed with pepper and palm oil to produce a chilly and tasty product called (Adun). These products and our agriculture determine our economy and culture”.

Adewunmi stated, “The objectives of Ososa Day are to attract funds for the gradual development of our town; and to engage in Cultural Rebirth/Reforms with a view to improve Traditional Council Administration”.

They said that the objectives included “to undertake strategic imperatives for adequate representation of Ososa citizens at high governmental/societal levels.

“Consequently, we have developed a strategic plan for management of the aspirations of the town on a long term basis that will give a resounding and comprehensive public image for the Town

The committee, which disclosed plan to gradually develop and grow Ososa over time, itemized the projects to be undertaken with the proceeds of Ososa Day.

Also in his remark, Oba Dr. Toye Alatise, the Gbegande of Ososa,
thank God and people for coming.

“That we planned Ososa day celebration for a week though the grand finale is on Saturday but we have started today, with press briefing. We have always been talking about this and that’s why I have always been an advocate of primary health care. Because that is where the majority of our people are. More people in the rural areas than the urban centers. The cost of drug is jjuts like every other thing. Even rice has gone up. Garry has gone up. But if everybody were to be on board, talking of an insurance scheme, there would be no need for the ordinary Nigeria to worry about the cost of drug.

” There is also a need for those of us who are informed, to ask our people to be on board health insurance. I can’t deceive you, in Ososa here have just started. We are encouraging our people. Like I have said, our people will rather consult a local traditional health assistant and attendant than visit a hospital, but we must continue to encourage them. Part of which is why we have started this week’s celebration with medical outreach. We brought doctors, we brought Nurses, by the time we beg.n to make sure that our people buy in the habit of seeing medical practitioners, then they will understand what it means to go to hospital and see orthodox medical practitioners. That will now encourage buying into health insurance.”, I thank the Almighty god and am happy for this opportunity”, Oba Gbegande said.
