The Sailors’ Home Front Magazine aims to highlight NNS WEY’s activities, programmes and dedication towards securing the maritime environment which symbolizes the Base commitment in serving Nigeria in its best ability.
The magazine launch which took place at the Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla Hall attracted the Navy community members, top officers and numerous stakeholders to witness history and promoting the goodwill of the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western, Rear Admiral Micheal Gregory Oamen, the special guest of honor.
While officially unveiling the magazine, Rear Admiral Oamen, appreciated it as a powerful tool for enhancing awareness of the Navy’s role in the nation and for boosting the personnel moral towards doing more.
He also sated that the initiative aligns with the vision of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral E L Ogalla, whose leadership emphasizes strength, resilience and the motivation of Navy personnel.
Expressing a deep sense of satisfaction, the Base Commander of NNS WEY, Commodore Mutairu Mustapha Braimah shared his pride in the Magazine, describing it as a narrative of the Base’s history documenting accomplishments of over five decades.
He said that while this first edition may only capture a fraction of NNS WEY’s milestone, it has set the stage for future edition to expand on the story of Navy life and service.
Commodore Mutairu Mustapha Braimah also informed that Sailors’ Home Front Magazine will help bridge the civilian/ military relationship by offering civilians a glimpse into the daily activities of officers and promoting civilian engagement with the Navy’s mission
