Truetells Nigeria reports that the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba has approved the promotion of 21,039 junior officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
This online news platform understands that Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi announced the approval in a statement on Thursday, April 14, 2022. The officers on the list of police promotion 2022 were last elevated on or before 2017.
reports that the Nigeria police promotion 2022 comprises:
- 20,572 Sergeants to Inspector
- 324 Corporals to Sergeants
- 143 Constables to Corporal.
The Force Public Relations Officer said it is part of efforts aimed at improving the welfare, and conditions of service and boosting the morale of personnel for greater efficiency.
Truetells Nigeria reports that IGP Baba assured that he remained committed to manpower development to ensure that deserving personnel are rewarded to encourage hard work.
The IGP informed senior police officers that the Force high command is liaising with the Police Service Commission (PSC) on the release of their promotion. He commended the newly-promoted officers for their resilience and charged them to see their new ranks as a call for renewed zeal, vigour and patriotism to duty.
The IGP equally ordered that supervising officers should ensure confidence-boosting, proactive, and high visibility patrols are carried out along the highways, motor parks, train stations, airports, worship centres, recreation centres, banks, and other financial institutions while taking adequate measures to provide a peaceful, crime-free, and enabling environment for religious, cultural and other socio-economic activities to thrive.
Nigerian Police Detain Assistant Superintendent Caught Smoking Indian Hemp In Lagos
Meanwhile An Assistant Superintendent of Police, attached to Shogunle divison in Lagos, Babatunde Adebayo, has been arrested for smoking Indian hemp in public.In a photo that went viral on Sunday, Adebayo was caught on camera, puffing on a wrap of cannabis while he was in a gathering.
The photo was captioned “Nigerian police officer at Ijora Lagos smoking weed on duty.”
In a statement on Tuesday evening, the state police command said the officer had been identified and would face disciplinary action.
The spokesperson for the command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, had directed that appropriate sanctions be meted out to Adebayo.
The statement read, “The Lagos State Police Command has identified the police officer pictured smoking weed at the Ijora area of Lagos State. He is ASP Babatunde Adebayo serving at Shogunle Divison of the Command.
“Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, fdc, mnim, psc has directed the immediate commencement of appropriate disciplinary measures commensurate with his rank.
“CP Alabi has equally warned officers and men of the Command to stay clear of all unprofessional and unethical conducts as any officer found guilty of these acts will be severely sanctioned.”
